HOW TO IMPORT THE LUTs
Adobe:
- Go to Lumetri Color
- Go down to creative tab
- Click on look and select “browse”
- Choose your selected LUT and you’re good to go
FCPX:
- Go to effects tab
- Search “Custom LUT”
- Next to LUT select “Choose Custom LUT”
- Choose your selected LUT and you’re good to go
ADJUSTING INTENSITY
If the selected LUT your applying looks too intense you can use “Mix” in FCPX to lower or strengthen the intensity. In Adobe Lumetri Color you would adjust the intensity slider.
THE LUT MAKES MY CLIP UNDER/OVER EXPOSED
These are supposed to be easy. First try adjusting the exposure of the clip. You will 90% of the time be able to find the look you want by adjusting this slider.
CLIP UNDER/OVER SATURATED
The LUTs themselves do not have any decreased or increased saturation. I shoot all my footage in “FLAT” color meaning the raw clip looks less saturated. These LUTs work for both GoPro and Flat color profiles however if you like/dislike the saturation just move the slider to your desire.
ARE THESE LUTs ONLY FOR GOPRO
No. These LUTs were created specifically for GoPro snow footage in mind. However, I have also tested them on my Black Magic Pocket Cinema 6K camera, RED, Sony, iPhone, Canon and Panasonic.
WHAT SOFTWARE ARE THESE LUTs FOR
These LUTs were created to be used with any coloring software that allows you to choose a custom LUT. In Adobe natively it is Lumetri Color and in FCPX you can choose a custom LUT effect. You can also use these in Red Giants “Colorista” or “Looks” by importing the LUT. They will also work in Davinci Resolve.
WHAT IS A LUT
LUT stands for “Look Up Table” and is a mathematical formula that deliberately changes the colors of an image.
WHAT COLOR SPACE ARE THESE LUTs
These LUTs were created using Rec. 709 color space.
